Father & Son Space Camp is a truly memorable experience. Terry and I had were selected as Mission Specialist of the first orbiter flight and from a random drawing were fortunate to be selected for the Shuttle Commander and Pilot. Yes, my son able to tell dad what to do and get away with it.  Funny thing about this flight as we were competing with all of the other mission teams. One of the previous pilots, a twelve year old was bragging about how easy it was to pilot the shuttle.

The flight director displayed her humorous side by sending anomalies with "Master Alarms"every five minutes on our flight. Boy was it a stressful event as we were performing a flight where certain things had to be completed on split second timing.  This was very difficult when lose an engine, lose electrical power etc. I did manage to land the orbiter, however we did a belly landing as I forgot to extract the landing gear.  At least we did not finish last. One of the previous teams left their payload specialists outside the space-craft when they shut the bay doors and landed the orbiter.  .
